Roberto Puccini

Roberto, which is a very Italian name. Where in Italy are you?

I Pisa, you know? I got tired of holding up the Leaning Tower so I moved to Asia!

Awesome. When did you move to the best hemisphere?

April 27 e 1994, I arrived at Changi Airport, Singapore.

Do you remember the exact date. It had to be a life changing moment?

course. I only wanted to stay for 11 months but was so impressed by Singapore and decided to change my life. The language barrier was a problem -. Chinese and English are hard to learn, but I learned in shipyards

So now you design a made Italian cuisine. What makes your kitchen better than the rest?

Our kitchens are 100% Italian, customized and made from recycled glass and aluminum. Our motto is recycling dematerialisation, recyclability, the reduction of toxic emissions and long life. We are the first in Asia with completely recycled great quality kitchens that are all made in Italy and sent here.

Why did you feel the need to open a store here in Jakarta?

When I was living in Singapore I had several wealthy clients from Indonesia who would always say, "Wow" at all, even if it was artificial. I decided to come and see what Jakarta was like me and bought a plane ticket. My friends all said: "It is dangerous Do not go!" But I did not listen. I went competitors and as it turned out, there was no Italian food products here, so I decided to set up shop.

Your store is amazing, but why did you choose Kemang?

Thank you! We did not have an official opening yet, the signs have not arrived and you can see the floors are not finished. Hopefully we will officially open in October. The location is number one for us and we have tried for over a year Sudirman Pacific Place, everywhere. I do not like shopping centers as they are too marketed with too many restrictions. We will begin to have cooking classes here soon that we would not be able to do when we wanted in a mall.

These kitchens are super stylish - like something out of a James Bond film. What is the concept for your showroom?

We try to create something exclusive that no one has seen before and in order to attract the people you need good show. This showroom is two stories, with lots of parking space and upstairs we have 360 degree glass windows. We remain simple place, with not much furniture and not messy. We want people passing feel attracted to come inside.

Which one of the obstacles you face doing business in Indonesia?

It is very difficult to find people who really want to invest and grow, not only in furniture, but the staff too. For us, service is so important from the beginning to the end. Our staff have a minimum of ten years experience and even our assembly manager is Italian. But I guess what distinguishes us from the rest is a good thing!
