Hello Robert McKinnon. The Scotsman who accidentally found a house in Indonesia.

Robert McKinnon

So, Robert McKinnon, how did you end up living in Indonesia?

This is a funny question I asked repeatedly. It was that I had to leave Australia because of visa problems, honestly, and the cheapest ticket out was in Jakarta. I did not know about the country. I'm here now 22 years.

This is a great story! Any plans to move to Indonesia in the future?

No, I made my home here.

What are you currently doing here, and what else have you done over the past 22 years?

I am a teacher at Sekolah Bogor Raya. In the past, I had a billiard room, and was part owner of an ESL school. I also helped with the Indonesian Rugby with various events ranging from A5N at Rugby School. I was previously deputy director of the national team. With 7 of rugby we won the bowl in the back of 7 Singapore in 2008. In 2009, I also participated in the rugby contest organization of Bali and 10 this year, I helped organize the rugby tournament Indonesian school.

Wow, you touched on a variety of companies ... Some interesting stories to share your experiences here in Indonesia?

I never had any problems in all my travels throughout Indonesia. I hear bad stories about people losing hand phones and the likes, but when I do, they turned to me. I even had my car stolen and I'm looking forward to the insurance money, but now, the police took him back without charge. Funny!

How would you say that Indonesia has changed in your 22 years here?

All countries change. Indonesia has experienced stronger growth since 1998 and is now a pleasant place to live and work. It is also safer to live.

So how do you usually spend your free time?

I spend my free playing tennis with my friends and likes to eat and drink!

What would you say is your favorite thing in life in Indonesia?

Aside from people, I would say that the diversity of food. Semua bangat enak!

So what are your plans for New Years Eve and have you made resolutions?

I still think about what to do for the new year, but most likely will end spend with friends at Eastern Promise in Kemang.

New Year's resolution? A robust ... enjoy life more!
