Steve, where are you from?
I just Scarborough (Yorkshire, England).
What first brought you to Indonesia and how long have you lived here?
ME was brought here by the offer of a job, working in the garment trade. They hired me to Manila and asked me to come to Jakarta to launch a large business unit of the region, district here. It was 1998.
What other countries have you called home, outside of Indonesia
Lots, for different durations: France, Hong Kong, United States, Philippines, and South Africa.
How in Indonesia life differ in some other countries you, AOVE lived?
It, AOS not too dissimilar to places like the Philippines, there AOS however obviously a world of difference between places like New York, Hong Kong and Chamonix, a ski resort in France . Each place has its unique characteristics, positive and negative attributes.
Can you tell us about your family? How long were you married and do you have children?
I am married to Anita (DeDe) just over 9 years. We have two boys, Tyrone who is almost 7, and Oliver, who is 4 going on 18. They were both born in Cape Town.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time, how do you relax and unwind?
we usually try to keep the weekends for the family, although the children get older, we tend to lose them electronic gadgets rather than spend time with us. Apart from that my wife and I love eating out, although in recent times, we have struggled to manage this reason to be busy enough. I manage the odd game of golf. The other main activity plays guitar.
You, Aore member of expatriate band FUBAR, what instruments do you play and how would you describe your style of music?
I play the guitar and be part of the choir. We play mostly classic rock and contemporary, with the odd pop song in jet.
How often do you play, and where can you catch a performance?
We average 1-2 concerts per month. Our main regular places are Eastern Promise and Star Deli, both in Kemang. We play other places on an ad-hoc basis. We are always looking for new places.
You and your wife run a company called Tussy leather. When did you start the business and how is it?
it, AOS is my wife business, family OSA, they worked for 20 odd years now. When his men to retreat DeDe resumed. She designs products, mainly bags, made from exotic leather, like the snake, lizard and stingray skins and products for domestic and export markets.
What about leather Tussy sets out from the competition?
Tussy has a very clear objective of providing excellent designs, high quality, custom parts (it offers a customized service for people if necessary) and excellent customer service. Most other manufacturers here don, AOT offer these qualities, they usually focus on low prices, low quality and copying existing models.
